Matlock
is a busy town and tourist centre on the edge of the Peak District and close to Matlock Bath.

A small hamlet until the 1800's when mills at Cromford were built by Richard Arkwight.

The town prospered when "hydrotherapy" treatments where introduced to the Victorians

High Tor towers over the town and there are paths to wander high over the River Derwent and there is a cable car

Lea Gardens
to the east of Matlock has rare collections of rhododendrons, azaleas, and rock plants. Shop, tea room.




Wingfield Manor
South Wingfield, is a ruined 15th-century mansion used in the film "Jayne Eyre" and TV series "Peak Practice"
